Tires for the interim

Just got off the phone with a guy who is selling a set of 4 Dunlop
SP2000's off his propeller mobile 328i for $60. He has replaced them
with same and the used set has 20k miles on them. He said they have
between and eighth and a sixteenth inch of tread left on each. This
sounds like _not_much_ tread at all and I'm just wondering if it would
really be worth doing as an interim measure to lessen the financial
impact of going to 16" wheels for the 20v-wagon.

I know that SP8000's are only $89 ea at Tire Rack right now, but If I
spend $600 on some new wheels, that's another $360 for the rubber.

I have several other things on my PP-prep plate right now and probably
wouldn't be considering this now if I didn't need tires anyway. Just
like me to go overboard.

What do you think?
