will the problems ever end?

hey all,
i just changed the oil on my 5kcst. i went with mobil 1
5w30. prior to the switch, i ran a can of stuff that is supposed to
remove varnish etc. from inside the engine. you let it idle for 5 min,
then drop the pan and change oil as usual. i heard that this was
especially good to do before switching to synth. here is my problem.
while doing this, i noticed some smoke coming from the point of contact
between the exhaust manifold and the block. at first i hoped it was
only some of this stuff that i dripped, and it was buring off. it is
still to early to be absolutely sure that this smoke is simply not this
detergent buring, but i fear i have a leak, and i'm leaking exhaust. i
wonder: did i loosen some deposit that was "plugging" this leak?
regardless, i feel that fixing this problem willnot be inexpensive. the
leak is very minor, but is there nonetheless. also, will i not loose
turbo performance because of this?
part two: while changing the oil, i decided to change my
spark plugs as well, going from bosch platinums to ngk power v. the
plugs in my car did not have the resistors screwed on, and the ngk plugs
have the resistor built in. they will not fit into my wires. are my
wires defective, or is this how they are designed. should i get new
wires, or new plugs that have a resistor that i can unscrew?
after-run fan still seems to by running too long.
clutch still making a sound everytime i disengage at high
revs.

ahhhhhhhhhhh!

but i LOVE my car.
peace.
