There are a few to look at:
-There are two big fat shielded cables, one goes to the AM/FM antenna
booster in the left rear d-pillar, the other goes to the FM booster in
the right rear d-pillar. If these were switched, or if one wasn't
connected, you won't get good reception.
-In the bundle of wires that went to the stock radio, there should be a
white wire--that shuld be the power line for the antenna amplifier.
Incidentally, it's also connected to the seat belt warning control
module, so if your seat belt chime still works then probably that's not
the problem.

Check the connection of the two big antenna wires first.

Don't know about the 88-91 90's, but on the 93's there are two.

By all means, marry! If she's a good wife, you'll be happy. If she's
not, you'll become a philosopher.
