I have experienced just the opposite with switching to Synth. on high
mileage cars. Over the last 5 years I have switched about 6 cars to Synth.
oil and have had not one of them give me problems related to leaks sludge
release etc. They ranged in mileage from about 80K to 130K when the change
over was made. Two were Audis (84 4KQ and 87 5KQ) the rest were american
makes. I have used both Castrol Syntec and Mobil 1. Just thought I would
give another point of view.
