RE: Misting air-con Quattro V8
Many thanks to those peopel who reply to my posting and emailed me directly
about the problem with misting up in my V8 Quattro. Pretty well everyone
said the behing the air recirculation flap I would find a broken spring that
meant the flap wasn't closing.
So at the weekend I pulled out the glove box (what do you call that in the
US?), and checked around behind the flap - sure enough, broken spring! (And
also a little condesate water lying in there.)
I've re-fashioned a hook on the broken end and replaced it (MUCH easier said
than done). At normal settings, the flap stays closed unless I press the
Recirc button, so all seems to be working as it should, but I've noticed is
that on full a/c (ie with temp set to LOW) the system opens the recirc flap
anyway - I guess this is in an attempt to get maximum speed of cooling by
recirculating the air until the temperature is up a bit.
I can now only wait in hope that the misting is a thing of the past!

Please, please, does anyone know how to cure occasional but serious steaming
up of Quattro 200 and V8 interior. I'm not talking about the usual little
flush of humidity when an a/c starts up, but a real pumping of humid air
into the vehicle. A little background...
