No.  probably not that big a deal - I found a pinched vac line
that 
did the same for 2 (rear diff) - 1 is center diff.

Always a bit of a risk - but engines have a good rep for
longevity 
without gut work (bearings), and even top end (head, valves). 
Rubber
items and hydraulics bite you.  Any history on the steering rack
or
PS pump?
