Stop leak, valve spring pressure
I`m pretty new at this e-mail and computer stuff, forgive me for not
citing or including the messages to which I allude. Pretty fancy words
for a Wrench, huh? Alumaseal is really a no no in modern composite
radiators. We`ve seen cars with Alumaseal or Bars Leaks in the cooling
systems that had to have new radiators after only a day and a few miles.
Not to say that these aren`t good, they have their place, but that place
isn`t in your expensive, hardly cleanable , aluminum/plastic radiator.
Secondly, It has been our experience that valve springs can be out of
tolerance at surprisingly low mileage. We recently put a full set ina
Volvo turbodiesel (VW 6 cyl) with less than 80K on it, and routinely put
new springs in Bus/914 engines. We use a machine shop in LA that really
knows aluminum cyl heads, and they very carfully test every spring AT
INSTALLED HEIGHT.If your machine shop doesn`t do this, ask `em why. Bye
for now. John Larson, 90 90Q, 80 4K(parting out), 73 911 Bus, 71 Norton
Commando, other stuff, don`t ask.< jdlarson@ix.netcom.com>
