Hard Hot Start and Check Valve
I had problem starting my car when it was hot. Bad check valve. I'll
suppose you know that works. (If not let me know). The check valve was
easier to replace (and cheaper,$25.. or so.) than I suspected.
** If you don't mind working with highly flammable liquids and gases **
My advise: Drive your car to almost an empty tank of gas. The fuel
pump is on the bottom of the fuel tank. Disconnect the Battery from the
system to prevent any possiblity of an electrical spark. Remove the fuel
tank door retainer ring with a wooden stick and a mallet. It turns fairly
easy. (Use a flashlight to look inside the tank) After removing a few hoses
you can pull out (very carefully) the fuel gauge arm. (by the way don't
smoke, it could kill you). Note the position of the fuel pump and clips etc
that hold it. (The fuel pump comes out easy but was a little difficult
sliding it all the way back down, perhaps putting a dab of two-cycle oil on
the 3 rubber groumets). Carefully pull the fuel pump out. Replace the check
valve on the bench. And it all goes back together quite easy. If you need
help let me know.
