Re: 5kcstq search continues...



In response to a couple of E-mails I've gotten back about the 5kcstq:

- The A/C compressor has seized; that's why the belt broke. So it's not
just a leak. I don't know how much would have to be done to the A/C system
besides just replacing the compressor.

- Price: He was asking $5k (appropriate for a 5k, perhaps) but I'd told
him already that I wouldn't offer above $4650 because of the dead brake
bomb, which he was okay with. He claims to have an offer for $4600 from a
guy who's in Puerto Rico for a few weeks; he would, however, accept an
offer for a little less now, rather than wait for the guy to return. But I
don't think I'd give him anything close to that now. I'll guess I'll find
out whether he's bluffing about that $4600 offer. 

- The 212k, well-maintained 5kcstq (pearl white with Fuchs wheels, too)
seller is hoping to get about $4000 for it. I thought I might offer a few
hundred less, but I need to find out what's wrong with the A/C first. Once
again, it has a new radiator, clutch, starter, brake rotors and pads,
battery, water pump (and hopefully timing belt), heater motor, oxygen
sensor, ISV, and Dunlop D60A2 tires, all in the last year and a half.
