Don't worry about the overfill. That is only about 1/2 quart over the full
line. You may have some oil that collected on the pan when they changed it
and is running out the back of the plastic cover. Or, the oil drain plug
may not be tight. Or, you may have a leaky rear main. Dry it off including
as much of the plastic belly pan as you can, both top and bottom and watch
it. If it continues to leak at the back of the motor, chances are it is a
rear mail seal. BIG $$$$$$$$$$$. By the way, you may want to check and
make sure that they are replacing your oil filter when they change the oil.
If it is a quicky type lube shop, chances are they arn't replacing it, or
are replacing it with the wrong filter. If you know anything about the
filters, most shops don't stock them. They are really expensive for a
filter. I pay about $17 each but buy them is bulk. However, if I go to
Audi, they are about $37 each. So, beware of that.

Hi. I'm the new owner of a 92 V8 and am still in the phase where I'm a
little intimidated by the "new" hardware..
Yesterday the oil change place overfilled the engine (to a little over
the top of the little plastic limit marker on the dipstick). Today I've
got a small puddle on the garage floor and a little bit of burning oil
on hard running.
Some questions:
Is oil coming out of a breather somewhere or (sigh) have I blown a
seal??
Is it safe to drive it like this (till I can get it back to the shop
that did the work on Monday) or should I have it reduced asap?
I'd appreciate a direct reply.
TIA,
Lewis
