Good advice. The old rule of thumb was 30 days after painting to allow
the residual solvents to evaporate and the paint to harden. The car was not
supposed to be waxed in the interim because the wax can seal the paint
surface and slow solvent evaporation. Baking the finish in a paint shop
booth may reduce the waiting period, but I always held off waxing at least
30 days.
