A long story, but it was designed by a team that examined a jeep owned by
one of the two brothers that owned the Rover car company at the end of WW2.
He used the jeep on his farm but was less than impressed by its lack of

Was Rover Cars, then became part of British Leyland which changed its name
to Austin Rover then to The Rover Group.
I could go on for hours (and often do) but wont.
