Glen is correct, there isn't all that much space. The idea is to take out
the slack so nothing rattles. this is not a load bearing or structural
issue. With the cars weight on the springs everything is going to stay in
place. You could probably use an O ring in there ( if there is enough
room) and it would work just fine too.
