Maybe a 5kcstq with new EM?

Thanks for the replies I got about the condition of the 214k '87 5kcstq,
with the leaky exhaust gaskets. If it really does need a new EM, that
could be a significant expense. My friend will get back to me in a few
days about his father's asking price for the car.

Meanwhile, Mike Veglia pointed out an '86 5kcstq in the paper today, which
I called. Turns out it's owned by Joe Webb, whose for-sale sign I saw at
DM Motors yesterday while having the 214k car inspected. I talked with
him, and he says his 155k car has a Dialynx (one-piece) exhaust manifold,
K&N filter, Bilsteins front and new Sachs rear, and a TAP chip that he's
quite fond of. He's selling the car because he got an S4. He's asking
$4995, figuring in a less than perfect body. Apparently there are a few
dings and scratches on the platinum body.

I'm going to be in Alaska on vacation for a few days, so I won't get to
see the car till Monday at the earliest... hopefully it won't sell before
then. Anyone know Joe Webb or his car? The 214k car seems good, unless
that EM needs to be replaced for big money, and I prefer its pearl white
and Fuchs appearance, but this may be a better car with lower miles.

I really do have to decide soon, since I've got a cross-country road trip
planned to start less than two weeks from now (!), so I'll soon be done
with all these messages for advice--and the requests for help on repairs
will begin, no doubt!

TIA,
- Wallace White
