RE: Valentine 1 - :) laser story
Ah, yes. The V1. One of my favorite things! I've another V1 story to relate - another laser story. My day didn't start out too well. I was in-bound to work on Rte 110 from 93 into Lowell MA at the Rte 38 rotary near the Dracut/Lowell line. This is one of those elevated rotaries and I was travelling under it on Rte 110. Rte. 110 goes from 2-lane to 4-lane at this point. The ur-q (there - Audi content) had been dogged by a crapura right on its tail most of the way from Rte 93 and I was not feeling a lot of 'comradeship' toward said crapura driver at the moment. I know this is a _very popular_ laser and radar spot for Lowell's finest and was on-guard. As the road expanded from 1-lane in my direction to 2-lanes I move into the hammah lane because I needed to take a left at the light on the far side of the overhead roundabout. At about this time I got the V1 laser alert - BEEDLE-BEEDLE-BEEDLE....... Way Cool! I knew just what to do... I knew they were up ahead and exactly where. There were two other vehicles ahead of me about 1/4 mile, one in each lane. I knew that I was at present invisible to the cop's laser due to the two 'blockers' ahead of me and betwixt me and the cop. I maintained my speed at about 55 MPH in the hammah lane of the now-35 MPH area. The crapura zipped around me on the right........... cool...........Just as he got past me I backed off and this was just as the two 'blockers' ahead cleared the cop and exposed us both to the laser radiation emanating from the REO's REV (Revenue Enforcement Vehicle). By now the 55+ MPH crapura was just ahead of my now 35 MPH ur-q and making a very nice laser reflector indeed. The REV was 'well-lit' and rolling before I caught up to them. I waved as I passed by. Thanks Mike! It _was_ to be a good day afterall.
