The coolant system has not been bled.  I _think_ this is an "MB unique"
issue - I always fill the system normally and then trickle coolant
into the small hole in the top of the main radiator.  It helps if the
front of the car is slightly higher than the rear.  Take care torquing
the brass plug into the top of the radiator.

The book says it's enough to have the engine running while filling the
coolant.  The book is wrong.
