Well, I do suspect the rear mainseal. But I'm not getting *any* squealing at 
all whilst idling the engine, so there's nothing to "go away" when pulling the
dipstick.

The squeal *has* gone away since I nailed it while driving down an empty 
street. Last night on the way home, I though I detected the slight whistle
I noticed weeks ago, but it only happens under boost- never at any other time.
