Yep. My first attempt was similar.
Borrow a hair dryer and start heating up one end of the badge. It will take
a long time. The hot setting will loosen up the double sided tape without
hurting the paint. Take a pair of pliers and gently pull on the badge.
Don't try to rip it off...you just want to loosen it.
Then move toward the middle of the badge. Repeat as above.
Keep moving till you get to the far end of the badge. You will have spent a
good 15 -30 minutes on this first badge by now, maybe more. And it should
be loose at this point...enough to be able to gently pull the whole thing
away.
Then use some gentle solvent to remove the traces of double sided tape on
the paint, use some polishing compound to smooth out, and wax.
Taking your time is the key. Heat is your friend. If you want to accelerate
the process, park your car in the sun all day before you start.
