      Until he does find the culprit, tell him to invest in
      one of those circuit breaker type fuses that reset
      themselves after a few seconds.  When I had a short
      in the wipers of the 5KS (the wires were routed
      incorrectly, causing the wiper arm linkage to short
      the hot wire) it would blow the fuse intermittently,
      at the worse possible time. On the 5KS it's also the
      fuse for the radiator fan, an added bonus.  As a TEMPORARY
      fix, I used one of these resetting fuses to get home. The
      alternative would have been 20 fuse changes in the
      pouring rain....and we all know how Audi places
      fuse boxes in the greatest locations....
