As per our quote from the manufacturer here at work, Green pentosin and Red
should never be mixed.  In the case of your car that had the rack repalced and
so on, this is acceptable, as the "Working" parts of the system have been
resealed.  
 Red is synthetic, and green is mineral based. The red would have wierd
effects on the seals. The quote also says that Green can be substituted for
ATF in powersteering systems where the temp. is low at times, such as the
Northeast. This is only valid after the system has been completely flushed.  
 So, to answer your question, if it has green, keep it green. If it is red,
keep it red.
