Re: 4kq surging improved

I would say that 99% of the cars out there with distributors
have both centrifugal and vacuum advance, although
sometimes the centrifugal weights are slightly hidden
in the lower portion of the distributor. Any good hot-rod
magazine will at some time or another address the fact
that factory springs for the centrifugal advance weights
either wear out or aren't at the proper spec in the first
place, causing an improper timing advance. There are
quite a few companies, not the least of which is ACCEL,
who manufacture specific application springs and weights
for centrifugal advance in a distributor. I'm not sure if
anything is currently made for Audis besides OEM.
