The A4 was a very attractive car; Audi made a huge jump with it; many
more people could suddenly afford an Audi. Funny, I don't really think of
the a4 as I do the 4k though they share the same position.
Anyways, the side effect seems to be that it attracted droves of immature
yuppie scum with gobs of disposable like the new Saab 900 has. These are
the type of people who are big into computers(or at least the web) so it
all figures out. I've noticed A4 owners are kinda indifferent(I used to
get regular looks from male Audi drivers driving 5k and 100/200's.) One
good note; a very friendly Silver-A6W driver once let me onto Rt 2 out of
Alewife station based entirely on the 4 rings on the back(a look of
recogniton, a hello-there-wave, and a pause to let me in with a "scoot in"
wave.) I've noticed that female Audi drivers seem to comprimise almost
entirely A6 wagon drivers(at least in Weston/Wayland here) who could give a
hoot what drives the other way, with the distinct difference of one woman
driving a red 4kQ going about 40mph _SIDEWAYS_ around a curve(throwing up
snow from all 4 wheels) who nearly took out most of the left side of my car
this winter; MM she was NOT.) She looked to be about 17 and obviously too
immature to be driving ANY car.
Local men are all A6 sedan-er's.
Local favorite colors are almost entirely silver and green(green moreso.)
I know a guy who bought 2 acuras; his son drives the older one and they're
both quite nice, thanks, so there goes that theory. :)
A family friend who is German and drives _only_ BMW's(his family in Germany
orders them for him, and he visits them, tours Europe in the car, and goes
home with it.) He's slightly excentric and used to, about 10-15 years ago,
drive like a maniac, once having to explain to a officer how he managed to
hit a telephone pole 20 feet from the side of the road(he, uh, passed on
the right so to speak :) Has since quieted down much(with 2 kids and
being at least 40 years old now.)
One funny story: he once had his brother order one for him. His brother
said "what color?" and he said "you pick!"
He gets to Germany to find the most disgusting, pale yellow BMW waiting for
him.
He never asked his brother to pick the color again, and I think he stopped
getting them in Germany too :)
(note, the post above is heavily "me opinionated" and may have no basis in
reality, durhhh...excepting the "local" observations :)
