Prolly not the clutch because I have an automatic transmission.  The
brakes are fairly new but I haven't looked at them--could be.

???  Who knows!  I didn't think it did that.

BTW, speaking of clutches, could it be the A/C compressor clutch?  Would
that smell the same?  I only ask because the A/C makes awful noises when
it's on.
