Re: Help! On the road with a dying clutch!

Well, I made it to Albuquerque today without many problems--and without the
clutch. I couldn't arrange for the job to be done in Flagstaff, AZ, but I
found an independent VW shop ("Foreign Aide VW") here in Albuquerque that
claimed to have the parts in stock and everything. I'll find out tomorrow.

Anyway, I almost made it from Needles, CA, all the way to here without
stopping, about 550 miles. With the clutch permanently engaged, I was glad to
have that 21-gallon tank, but I lost my nerve about 50 miles short of the
destination and decided to fill up. Luckily, the gas station was large and
easy to navigate, with plenty of space to get a rolling start so that I could
engage first clutchless. Still, I'll be glad to have an operational clutch
again.
