As far as I know, you can only buy direct from the manufacturer.
No sales, no discounts. $299 won't do it.

In my opinion, no V-1 has yet become "obsolete"... but the oldest ones
don't have laser detection and the next generation only has front
laser detection.

The newer the unit, the better.... but I have a 1992/3 and a 1997...
on X, K, and Ka, the units are very similar, though the older
one tends to have more X-falsing in the full logic mode. There
are a couple of other minor issues as well, but nothing substantial.

Used ones are rare; it's actually cheaper (but just slightly) to
have your old one upgraded than to just buy new. I lucked into
my older one via the net @$180. Almost a dozen people sent
the guy checks... I was able to get somebody local to met him
with cash first. His reason for selling? To buy a new one.

Best mounting? As high as possible, but the laser detection
needs to be behind clear glass. Hence, upper-mid locations
are common. I opt for a bit more stealth (at the cost of range)
by mounting low. On the UrQ, I have it suction-mounted
in the lower left corner, top even with the dash pod. 95%
invisible from outside (or behind).

No, neither of mine is for sale... just like my 85 UrQ! ;-)
