(engine) Check (?)

I was driving home tonight, and whenever I exceded 3000 RPM, some yellow
light came on in the dash... I couldn't make out the picture, but I could
see the 'CHECK' notice...

? What's wrong with my new baby?

I'm guessing OIL pressure, but really don't know. I'm pretty concerned
about it, I don't want to let my baby get sicker... 

Anyone have some clues?

Oh wait - 
I'm looking at the Manual now, and it looks like the warning light that
came on was the Emissions Contro., System malfunction light. Why would it
come on at 3k rpm EXACTLY under load? In the past, I've been able to crank
out 5000+ rpm and way high boost, with no little problems or anything.

Can someone help my dear Mortis? I fear that he is sick, but don't really
understand the analog lights that have just been popping up. Popping up >3k
RPM, exactly, to reiterate my position. 

Thank you a thousand times, if you can help me.. My audi is one of the few
things that keeps me going, and alive.. My dear pale horse Mortis died
protecting me, and now that Mortis has been re-incarnated, I want to repay
the favor.. No more Jeep trails, no more blasting through the wilderness
with 600+ extra lbs of weight to rip apart the engine blok. I want to treat
Mortis nicely, because in his former life, he died protecting me from years
of surgery and  rehabilitation.

( I wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and ran into solid obsticals over 50 mph,
and Mortis saved me from Dying, or years of plastic surgery.) No matter
your religion, your 'god' let me live.
