Snake oil

regarding the 'no oil engine test',

>From what I understand, the engines will run for a while without the oil,
certainly long enough to shoot a commercial, but will probably be totally
seized if you tried to restart it.

Someone else informed me that it's also possible they had a couple of
quarts of oil still in the engine, but the oil level was low enough it
wouldn't show on the dipstick.

CW says Slick 50 and the like are good at lubricating the walls of your
wallet, and help money flow out of your pocket.

Generally, I'd stick to a decent synthetic and leave it there. In my 100, I
ran Syntec 5-50 and changed it every 5k mi. I have heard, that the wider
the viscosity range, the more the oil will break down - the polymer chains
fall apart or 'snap'. So I guess it's a mixed vote. I would imagine a 15-40
or 20-50 would be good for summer. I certainly wouldn't go for 10-30. IMO
anyway.
