re: dashboard lights and the end of civilization

Brooks,

Did your car have the Audi airbag recall work done? Also, have you timed
the "ON" interval and is it constant? On my '91 200q, _after_ the PO had
the recall work done last year, the airbag light began to stay on for
exactly 2.5 minutes. The PO complained so the dealer checked it out but
claimed they could find no problem. I spoke with the same dealer who
recalled that the issue was complicated by the fact that some
"unauthorized" wiring had been done in that area. Don't know what that
means. The car is completely, utterly stock--other than it had a
replacement Bose Gamma radio installed by the dealer in '94.

It still does this, so I checked with Audi who told me to bring it to the
dealer, but that the cost of diagnosis was mine--unless it was determined
there was a defective part or installation.
