little red cars FS in Idaho
Went by the dealer yesterday for an oil change. They didn't have an afterrun
switch in stock, so I ordered one from Carlsen. But anyway. Wandered around the
lot, here's what I saw:
'91 90q20v, 112k, red, gray leather, gamma, "3-piece" Speedlines, body in
pretty good shape. Has black "quattro" lettering on rear quarters, four-rings
fade graphic on lower door sills, silly little "spoiler" perched on trunk.
'87 4kcsq, 6k (on new cluster, betcha), red, black interior, think this one was
there before, why is it back?
An amusing thing happened as I was waiting for the parts guy to find the
afterrun switch on his fiche so he could not have it in stock. In walks the
proverbial little old lady (five foot nothing, white hair). A salesman teases
her about her passing him on the freeway at warp 8. She asks if she can have
her old car back while the her new one is serviced, apparently this is the PO
of that 90q (traded for an A4, sounds like). She said something like, "I've
driven 3000 miles, it's time to have the oil changed", so perhaps the 90q had
nice & regular maintenance. Also, she has noticed that the A4's radiator fan
doesn't seem to be turning on as intended (primary reason for service visit),
and I think I heard something about more "quattro" decals being readied for
application.
A truck of new Audis must have arrived recently, there were 8 or 9 A4s, all q I
think, half 1.8t / half 2.8, one avant; two A6qs (anybody else think the
fascia/fender joints are distracting on a light-color car?); and a dark blue
A8q with very (beautiful) shiny wheels. An A6 and the A8 were parked side by
side, and the EPA ratings were 17/26 for the A6, 17/25 for the A8. Heck, if one
little mile per gallon is all the difference there is between them, why not
have a V8? Couple NBs and Jettas, but no Passats in sight.
