Brake Fluid Smell
Hi Audifans :-),
I just (yesterday) had my brake and clutch fluid replaced. There is now
a strong brake fluid smell in the car, emananting from the rear of the
cabin. If I run the A/C, I can't smell it. If I get in the back seat,
it's pretty strong.
On the outside of the car from the front doors forward and into the
engine compartment, no smell. Rear doors back, it smells. No smell in
the trunk. My mechanic says he spilled a little fluid, but thought he
cleaned it up.
I can't see any fluid coming from the rear brakes. I was thinking of
going to a do-it-yourself car wash and hosing down the rear underside of
the car.
My mechanic is always willing to check it out and fix for nothing, but I
am going to the Entrepenuer of the Year Award tonight, and wanted to
take the Audi.
Questions:
1. Split fluid?
2. Will it harm anything to hose down the rear undercarriage? (I know
this seems like a stupid question, but it is an Audi).
3. Bad rear brake lines? (brakes feel really great now, nice and firm)
4. Other infinite List wisdoms?
Thanks
