CGT + Redline + Militec = smooth
Just coming up on one week with the new juice.
Last weekend I drained out some 1.5 year old Valvoline Synth GL-5. With
that elixir there was a bit of a notchy, catchy shift action which required
rather deliberate movements and matched rev downshifts.
Mixed 5 ounces of Militec with 2 quarts & 11 ounces of Redline MTL and
filled the transaxle with it. (I never seem to be able to get all of the
spec'd capacity in there; on the avant either.)
Right away it had smoother shifting which I attribute to the Redline vs the
Valvoline. During this past week I've been driving the Coupe exclusively
since the avant is in the shop. I've noticed a definitely improvement in
shift action as the days have passed. This may not be conclusive evidence
of anything, but I believe it goes along with the claims made by the
literature I received with the shipment of the Militec. When I changed the
avant to Redline, it definitley improved shift action right away, but there
was no further improvement noticed with the passage of time. I'm presenting
this as one more piece of evidence that Militec might doing something.
When I get the avant back and before I depart for PP (heavy dose of optimism
here...) I will extract about 6.5 ounces of Redline and refill with the same
amount of Militec. This should provide a measure of validity to the Militec
test. I thought about fresh Redline instead, but decided to go with the 8
month old stuff that's in there now. Anyone want to comment on this choice?
Just thought I'd share.
I'll post an update after AudiFest98...
