i talked to a buddy of mine in da biz, and he said to contact the dealer
(is that where you got yours?  if so, first try a different one).  he
indicated that every part they order from a dealer, audi in particular,
especially the newer models which require a dealer to be involved, the
vin of the vehicle is asked (for airbags, etc.).  If you've buddied up
with the local parts guy (as we '80s Audi folks all have), he/she may be
able to check it out for you, or get some inside info as to where to
go.  as far as an internet service, my friend hasn't heard of anything,
although i think he's still bewildered by ansering machines...
