Front end work
A liitle late - but I wanted to relate the front end work I had done last
week. I had front wheel bearings, strut bearings installed by the new mech
I found. During the install his 25 ton press blew the seals trying to press
out the one known bad wheel bearing. Results: along with the new SP8000s, a
noticeable difference in front end stability. The grip on the 8000s is just
flat awesome.
Tomorrow in go the new strut carts and new rotors.
My new mechanic, Irish Mike races a coupe GT in SCCA down here (the only
Audi in FL) - just set the lap record for his class at Sebring. We were
discussing his custom brake ducts (2 per side). He burns off a set of Hawk
blues each race. Before he got the coil over suspension and duct work
ironed out, he was averaging 28 minutes per front wheel bearing and burning
the paint off his Ronals... Was an Audi mechanic for 10 years in Europe.
