Hopefully someone else will come up with a better idea, but I'll take a
shot at it.  You could use a Dremel tool to flatten out parallel sides of
the nut and try to use an adjustable wrench from there.  Worst comes to
worst, you could just chop/grind the damn thing up with the Dremel tool
(might need the extension wand).  Just grind down 2 parallel sides and 
it should get weak enough to break/fall off.  Just don't go nuts with the 
Dremel tool and chop TOO much up.
