    Gary;

    Have you taken a good look under your back seat? Along with the battery,
there should be a vacuum pump for the power door locks and other
miscellania. Check the battery for overcharging and leakage and check the
battery vent hose for integrity. You may be smelling battery acid eating
your galvanized underpan, although this doesn't generally smell like brake
fluid. Check the electrics under the seat for meltdown.
    It sounds like you have thoroughly investigated the brake system, so
your smell must be something else.
    Just a guess....
