I was wondering about the science behind the guidance in the V-1 literature 
which says to avoid that area.  My unresearched guess was that the laser signal 
would be unaffected by normal tinting due to its wavelength. (Of course, the 
"metallic" aftermarket mirror tints might be a different story.)

Remember the Florida state patrol who got electrically-heated windshields in 
their new Crown Vics in the late 80's?  Suddenly, all their in-car radar units 
stopped working. How sad!  Ford had to do a widescale replacement of all the 
windshields.
