Hi,
I have a 1988, Audi 90, 2 wheel drive, roughly 200K miles. The AC has
gotten in this mode that if the outside temp is cold, then the AC
works and I can feel the compressor kicking in. However when it is hot
outside (CA), the AC stops blowing cold air. The compressor is
not kicking in. The engine fan turns on. The AC has not been recharged
and I understand that there is a low pressure switch that can
disable the AC. The weird thing is if low pressure is the culprit, why does
the AC works when the outside temp is cold. I checked the voltage
to the compressor and I believe there is 0 volts (hot day, non functioning
AC). I shorted the relay that controls the AC and did not see
the compressor kicking in. I also wiggled the couple of switches (low
pressure and high pressure) in front of the Aux radiator (right hand
side of the engine).
I scanned the archives and did not see this problem addresses. I have a
Bently manual that refers me to the wiring diagram which
I can not find in the manual.
I have stopped subscribing to the list (too much mail) so I would appreciate
a direct response.
Thanks a lot...
David
