>From reading in a old Bentley and a back-up Haynes manual, I see a pair
of bushings and a spring that could easily wear out and cause the
creaking.  My old Coupe did that, and it was rather annoying.  I tried
shooting WD-40 into the bushing to clean it out, then rubbed some grease
to stop the creak, but I can't remember if it worked or not.  That's my
two bits, at least.  Hope it helps.  You may want to see what other's
more knowledgable have to say about this, though.
