KKK vs Garret vs Turbonetics

I picked up a recent copy of Turbo and high tech perf and one question came to
mind of all the 400 HP Hondas, turboed Nissans, Dodge V10's with a bazillion
horsepower none used KKK turbos in fact I didn't see KKK mentioned once except
for in advertisements.. My question is why are KKK turbos used for Hp gains in
5 clinder apps???  The K26 Design is the same one since 1984, 1980 if you
include the k26's with the larger hot side.. Why dosn't anyone use a more
"modern" turbo Like a ball bearing turbonetics or a Garret???  Parts are
easier to find more selections exist between A/R ratios for hot and cold side,
and they aren't that expensive compared with similar KKK units.. Am I missing
something other than the fact they don't bolt up???
