revlimiter cutting in early & Differences

My rev limiter is cutting in early and cutting into my fun.  I dont want
to disable it but it cuts in at 5,900 RPM.  My Redline is 6,500 RPM.  What
gives?

Also, the car my Girlfriend wants to get appears not to have one.  I
floored it and in 2nd promply blew right past 6,500 and shifted at 6,700.
Same engine as my car. Whats up with that?!?!?!  Is it broken, or is the
ECU simply different.  Interesting thing is, while I think My ECU is
different, I have a friend with an 86' that also cuts in at 6,000.  Wierd.
ANy one else have simmilar oblervations.

Just curious and want to have more fun.  L8R
