Re: V8 cooling issues

Doyt- Your analysis makes sense. To add to your conclusion, I continued to
trouble shoot, and learned the following:
1. Access to the fan resistor board is indeed easiest thru the wheel well with
the splash guard removed as suggested by Roland Broberg
2.There are two temperature sensors in use. One monitors coolant temp of the
engine, and is located on the front of the engine(drivers side) where the
radiator top hose connects to the block. I have been unable to determine its
function. The other sensor is located on the bottom of the radiator on the
passenger side. It appears to control the electric fan.
3. The cold resistance of good sensors is approx 360 ohms. 100 ohms will cause
the controller to turn the fan on.
4. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the system except I am not
used to seeing the gauge past the 75 deg C mark.

I would be interested in other folks observations but you should all know, I
have been wrong before.
