for the full text, but a guy on the VW newsgroup called up Dunlop, and the 
SP8000 is being not phased out but moved down the price range (a few sizes are 
going away, though). It's the D40M2 that is totally dead.

1991 200 quattro, 94k, needs a wash and a well-deserved rest but probably going 
to McCall this weekend anyway while the GTI picks up daily-driver duties again
1988 GTI 16v, 179k, needs a wash worse, hopefully next summer tires will be 
SP8000 (Hakkas for winter of course!)
