5KCSTQ Cruise Control ball-joint/shaft thingy
I was on the highway last evening doing 85 with cruise on when suddenly the
cruise shut off and the gas pedal got stuck and it wouldn't move. Thanks
god it didn't get stuck wide open.
I suspected it was that long shaft that holds the throttle open --
sometimes that little disc wears out and the cruise fails -- but I wasn't
sure since I recently had to have the entire throttle-body replaced on the
car.
Sure enough, the shaft with the little ball-joint on the end had failed and
gotten stuck in the wire thingies on the throttle making it difficult to
accelerate
Does anyone know a cheap, easy way to fix this thing? It looks
tremendously easy to fix -- and I though about using a washer and a nut to
go on the end of the bolt shaft with the threads on it, but I have a
sneakin' suspicion I ain't gonna find no nut that's gonna fit!
Ideas?
Thanx Richard
