Re: Passat Sighting

Just came out of the grocery store to see a brand spanking new
Passat...<snip>>>

In seeing the new Passat and A4's on the road every day now I have started to
favor the exterior styling of the Passat (flame on for my heresy...but it has
grown on me and styling is a matter of taste).

The other day, having not yet seen a new Passat wagon (only the A4 Avant) I
saw parked at a local VW parts place (Volks Cafe in Santa Cruz, CA.) a
beautiful white wagon with no obvious badges, nice big wheels (didn't note
type...but they looked great), and thought to myself "there is a really nice
modded A4 Avant". Upon closer inspection it turns out this car was a new
Passat wagon with some Oettinger body tweeks. I think it is the owner's (of
Volks Cafe) car, local listers should swing by and take a peak...

This is not to imply I think the Passat is on par in every respect with the
A4...it's not and you get what you pay for. But, as an alternative for those
who are a bit less performance minded they are certainly worth a look.
Remember, what is good for VW is good for Audi. I still feel the best "deal"
on a new performance Audi has to be the A41.8tq.
