First thing that came to mind is that some cars have a separate power
switch for the cruise like my old 5kt.

My Bentley through 83 coupe (all 2wd) has some extra pages after the
main circuit diagram - a BIG EDGE over Mr. and Mrs. Haynes who only give
the main diagram.  Cruise is on one page.  I can fax it you if you want,
or describe it in email.  then all you have to do is find a similar
diagram for the new switches or measure them... oh well.
