Solid rubber bonded motor mounts

All,
I have put about 160 miles on my ur-quattro after completing the majority of the work on my project. One of the things I did was replace the tranny and motor mounts. I used the solid bonded rubber mounts. With all four new mounts in the car and before I ever drove it I noticed these mounts let the motor wiggle around a lot.
Now that I've been driving it I can really feel it in the shift lever. If I get on some choppy pavement there is noticable movement. I suspect these mounts are satisfactory for the cruiser car because they isolate the motor vibration but when I replace them again I'll get the more expensive oil filled mounts for the motor.
The good side to this is the motor no longer sits on the subframe!
