After Scott Mockry's post I checked the voltage at the battery, and at the
charging post under the hood to see what the difference was.....voltage was
exactly the same at both places (down to the hundredth of a volt, according
to my semi-cheap Sears multimeter).  I would say a 1-volt drop between
battery and under the hood is a big problem.  Just one data
point...........SLM
