All the Special Build Coupe GTs made in the latter half of the 1987
build year (build year runs from August through July, I believe)
that came with the 2.3L engine also had the digital dash.
Yes, it appears that you can swap an analog dash for a digital dash.
The swap isn't easy, but it doesn't look to be especially hard. You
definitely need the Bentley wiring diagrams for the 1986 and 1987
Coupe GTs, as they show the wiring of each dash type. The primary
isssue is rewiring the connectors for the analog dash, and installing
the speedo cable versus the electronic sending unit.
Yes, the digital dash does have an upshift light. It could be that
your bulb is blown, or your upshift circuit is not functional in
another way (bad control unit, wiring, or sensors).
