Welcome to the Audi clan! My 86' 4kcsq (graphite) has the same problem with
the blinkers. The green double arrow is normal. The Germans feel that if you
do not know which turn signal you meant to signal then you do not deserve to
be told.  Anyhow, I think it is the flasher/blinker relay going out on me.
Mine flashes faster in the cold of winter which I think would go along with
the relay going out. 

Check and see if the sunroof seal has come loose and is stuck up inside, this
can happen.  There is also a strip of cloth that is glued to the inside of the
roof that the liner is supposed to slide on.  This can come loose and bind as
well leaving ugly dark streaks, I have the liner to prove it.
