10V vs. 20V vs. 25V and my MB



The thread on the 10V vs. 20V heads brought into my mind a discussion I had
with Risto Buri at LMS were my MB is awaiting triple bypass surgery.  I
wondered why the Risto Kuismanen Audi "200" tube frame car built by Audi
Sport no longer had the five valve head on it.  "If you can get 900hp with
four valves per cylinder, why mess with it?"  Apparently the five valve
head on the 5 cyl turbos was never developed far enogh to be much beyond
the 20V in the power/reliability stakes.

FWIW, I've decided against the complete RR conversion and will have the MB
completely rebuilt.  Ten valves will do just fione for me, thank you.  I'm
still contemplating luring a few extra ponies out of the the MB, but it
seems there is not as much available for it as the earlier/later engines. 
Apparently MTM has some tricks up their sleeve that will result in approx.
240 hp.
